opening friday, 28 october, 2022, 19h

Emil Walde, master student of Franka Hörnschemeyer, develops site-specific works, builds new spaces or places absurd scenarios in space. A mobile home became the porch of an Art Nouveau villa in Viersen, and he placed a capsule in the room as a walk-in, upside-down in display. For four years he had a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation. In 2021 he received the graduate prize of the Düsseldorf Art Academy, in 2022 the sponsorship prize of the “GROSSE” in Düsseldorf. Walde, who was born in Munich in 1991, has had exhibitions in various cities in Germany since 2015.
Regarding his room installation JALOUX he explains: “I work with the existing exhibition architecture. My thoughts revolve around residential and living spaces. About barricades in Ukraine, about people withdrawing during the pandemic. My work helps me to deal with these issues”.
